Redhawks Upended By Panthers 84-77

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball was unable to make it three straight victories, falling to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night, 84-77.

The Bobcats stormed ahead, opening an 8-2 lead in the game's first two minutes.

The Redhawks trailed until the 11:11 mark, when they tied the game at 19-19, but a 7-0 run by the visitors followed to push the score to 26-19.

The red and black's response was a 10-0 run of their own and regained the edge at 29-26 with 6:33 remaining in the half.

Neither team would lead by more than three the remainder of the first half, but Pitt-Greensburg took a 41-38 lead into the half.

Out of the break, La Roche moved ahead, scoring nine of the first 11 points to take a 47-43 lead in the first four minutes of action.

The Redhawks would builed it to as many as nine, 63-54 with 10:23 to go and held the lead until the Bobcats regained control at 69-67 with 7:03 to go, behind a 15-4 push.

With 4:16 remaining, the red and black were back ahead, 76-71, but the final stretch belonged to the visitors, outscoring La Roche, 13-1 in that period to take the victory.

For the game, the Redhawks finished 31-for-71 (43.7%) from the floor and 7-for-25 (28%) from three. From the foul line, they made eight of 10 attempts (80%).

On the other side, Pitt-Greensburg finished 32-for-63 (50.8%) from the field, 9-for-19 (47.4%) from deep and 11-for-17 (64.7%) from the free-throw stripe.

The Redhawks had three players in double figures, led by Dominic Elliott with 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting, while also adding three rebounds and three assists.

Bryce Epps followed with 14 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals, while Isaiah Thomas added a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

La Roche hits the road one last time in the regular season and does so after a week off. The next matchup, at Carlow, is on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
