Redhawks Celebrate Five Seniors In 99-70 Win Over Express

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball celebrated five seniors, as it continued its winning ways, moving the streak to 12 straight in a 99-70 win over Wells.

The Redhawks stormed ahead in the opening 4:46 of play, taking a 8-2 lead out of the box, as he five seniors who started dominated that stretch.

However, Wells, not long after, used an 8-0 run down 10-4 to take a 12-10 lead.

The teams traded the lead back and for the for the next six-plus minutes, until La Roche used a 7-0 run up 28-27 to build the lead up to 35-27 with 4:25 to go in the half.

A quick 5-0 spurt by the Express made it a 35-32 score with 2:28 remaining, and over the final 2:13, the Redhawks exploded with an 11-2 run to take a 46-34 lead into the breaks.

Out of the break, La Roche never relinquished its double-digit lead as the game never came closer than 10 points.

In the second half, the Redhawks used runs of 6-0, 9-0, 7-0 and another 6-0 run at different points of the half, to build a lead of as many as 33, closing the door on the victory.

For the game, La Roche finished going 40-for-75 (53.3%) from the floor and 12-for-29 (41.4%) from three. From the foul line, they capitalized on seven of 12 attempts (58.3%).

On the other side, the Wells finished 23-for-54 (42.6%) from the field, 10-for-23 (43.5%) from deep, while going 14-for-16 (87.5%) from the foul line.

The Redhawks had four players end the night in double figures and a total of 13 hit the score sheet.

Isaiah Thomas shined again, leading La Roche with 17 points behind 5-for-6 shooting from three, alongside eight rebounds

Joe Starzynski put in 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a pair of blocks, while Bryce Epps hit for 14 points on four three-pointers.

Dominic Elliott put in 10 points with six rebounds and three assists.

La Roche concludes its home regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 14 when it hosts Carlow. A win for the Redhawks clinches the top seed in the AMCC Tournament and home-court advantage. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
