Redhawks Take Home Eighth In A Row With 85-73 Win Over Panthers

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball made it three for three in their revenge tour of early season AMCC defeats, toppling Pitt-Bradford 85-73 on Saturday afternoon.

It was a fast start for the Redhawks, opening the game with a 20-8 over the first 6:15 of play.

Still holding a 26-12 lead at the midway point, La Roche saw its lead slip to six after an 8-0 run by the Panthers made it a 26-20 game.

La Roche pushed back to regain a double-digit edge and down the first half stretch, used an 8-0 run while leading 39-27 to close the half leading 47-29.

Out of the break, the Redhawks continued to hold the double-digit edge, but Bradford would cut it to single digits with 8:37 remaining.

The single digit lead for La Roche lasted just 21 seconds, and after regaining the double-digit margain it only fell to as little as that same eight points one last time as the deal was closed.

For the game, the Redhawks finished the night going 31-for-57 (54.4%) from the floor and 11-for-23 (47.8%) from three. From the foul line, they capitalized on 12 of 19 attempts (63.2%).

On the other side, the Panthers finished 25-for-56 (44.6%) from the field, 4-for-14 (28.6%) from deep, while going 19-for-24 (79.2%) from the foul line.

La Roche had another strong game from its starting five, with four finishing in double figures.

Isaiah Thomas led the night for the Redhawks with 19 points to go alongside seven rebounds.

Michael Brooks followed with 17 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists, while Bryce Epps chipped in 16 points, seven assists and four steal and Joe Starzynski netted 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Redhawks begin a three-game road trip that starts on Wednesday, Jan. 31 with a trip to Penn State-Behrend. Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m.
