Redhawks Stay Hot, Take Down Celtics 79-59

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball continued its stretch of quality play Wednesday night, taking down Carlow 79-59 on the road.

The Redhawks trailed for just 1:06 in the contest after the Celtics made the opening basket, using an early 12-2 run following that opening make to lead 12-4, four minutes in.

As time went on, the lead held firm at 19-12 until an 18-3 run by La Roche, over a stretch of 7:15, sparked a 37-15 lead and ultimately a 45-21 lead going into the half.

Out of the break, it was the Redhawks standing put, as La Roche never allowing the lead to dip below 20 points, which was the final basket made in the game with 1:32 remaining to make it the eventual final score.

For the game, the Redhawks finished the night going 34-for-69 (49.3%) from the floor and 7-for-20 (35%) from three. From the foul line, they capitalized on just 4 of 9 attempts (44.4%).

On the other side, the Celtics finished 24-for-67 (35.8%) from the field, 3-for-20 (15%) from deep, while going 8-for-14 (57.1%) from the foul line.

La Roche distributed the wealth as nine players hit the score sheet and four players reached double figures.

For the second game in a row, Bryce Epps led the way with 15 points to go alongside three rebounds and two assists.

Jos Starzynski followed with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Michael Brooks secured a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Dominic Elliott nearly hit a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds as the fourth member to go into double figures.

The next time the Redhawks take the floor, they finish their road swing at Alfred State on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m. In the first meeting of the season, it was the Pioneers getting the best of La Roche, 84-68.
