Redhawks Cruise Past Lions 74-53 For Fourth Straight Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball took down its fourth straight opponent in a dominant 74-53 victory over Penn State Altoona on Saturday.

The Redhawks jumped ahead quckly, outscoring the Lions 18-9 in the first 10:22 of play.

An 8-0 Altoona run trimmed the La Roche lead to just 18-17, but the Redhawks countered with an 8-0 run of their own to take a now 28-17, double digit lead, with 5:21 to play.

The Lions would narrow the margin before heading into the half, as the score read 32-25 in favor of La Roche.

Out of the break, a three-pointer for Altoona cut the deficit to 32-28, but over the next 4:05, the Redhawks exploded with a 21-0 run to take a commanding 53-28 lead and coasted to victory from there.

For the game, the Redhawks finished the night going 26-for-64 (40.6%) from the floor and 10-for-25 (40%) from three. From the foul line, they capitalized on just 12 of 14 attempts (85.7%).

On the other side, the Lions finished 17-for-56 (30.4%) from the field, 6-for-24 (25%) from deep, while going 13-for-21 (61.9%) from the foul line.

La Roche had four players in double figures, with Bryce Epps netting 20 to lead the charge, tacking on six rebounds and three assists.

Isaiah Thomas ended the game with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Joe Starzynski scored 11 with five rebounds and three steals, matched by Jerique Walker who scored 11 off the bench.

The next time the Redhawks take the floor, they hit the road for a 6 p.m. matchup against Carlow on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
