AMCC Releases Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

AMCC Releases Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

The 2022-23 pre-season poll is out and La Roche University is predicted to finish in the second spot. League coaches expect Penn State Altoona to beat out La Roche for the title, leaving Penn State Behrend in third. However, it is important to recall the unpredictability of the 2021-22 season. Medaille was not predicted to make it to the championship game yet the team beat all odds and stole the title from LRU by one point. The Redhawks also went farther than expected, something that they could possibly do again in the 2022-23 season.

Penn State Altoona's Senior Andruw Harman was named Preseason Player of the 2022-23 year. Harman was the 2021-22 AMCC Defensive Player of the Year, received first-team all-conference honors, and was twice named an AMCC player of the week last season.

LRU seniors Joe Pipilo and Dev Darrell were labeled players to watch for. Pipilo was captain and maintained a 95% free throw percentage. He was also named AMCC's 3rd team all-conference. Pipilo recorded a 40% free throw percentage, making 3 per game. Also a captain, Darrell was named AMCC second-team all-conference in 2022. Like Pipilo, Darrell averaged 14ppg last season.

If La Roche hopes to overcome predictions and take the Championship title they will need to outplay players like Andruw Harman and Savion Word on the court. Hopefully, with the help of 11th-season head coach Hermie Carmichael, the Redhawks can finish first.
