Preview: Men's Basketball at Hilbert College

McCANDLESS, Pa. - La Roche men's basketball travels north to Hamburg, NY this Saturday, February 15th to take on Hilbert College. The Redhawks went wire-to-wire with the Hawks earlier this season at Kerr, ultimately edging out the visitors, 88-85. Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 2:00 p.m.

La Roche (OVR: 16-6, AMCC: 16-1)

Last Time Out: The Redhawks fended off Franciscan on Wednesday evening (2/12) at the Kerr, 82-75. The Barons put together a 25-11 run after being down by 20 points in the second half to make it a six point game late, but that is as close as they would get. Tyler Frederick led La Roche with a game-high 28 points and tied his career-high with 19 rebounds. Darius Lawrence picked up his first career double-double, finishing with 17 points and a career-high 11 assists, the most by any Redhawk in a game this season. Darius shot a perfect 13 of 13 from the free-throw line. Off the bench, up and coming Freshman guard Joe Pipilo scored 11 points while shooting 3 of 6 (50%) from deep. As a unit, LRU shot 51% (25-49) from the field and 42% (11-26) from beyond the arc.

  • With three games remaining in regular season conference play, La Roche holds a 1.5 game lead over Pitt Greesnburg (15-3) for first place in the league standings.
  • The Redhawks are an incredible 34-1 in regular season AMCC action dating back to last season.
  • Including last game, LRU has shot over 50% from the field in eight games this season; they have won all those games.

  • With an 11-6 record in conference play, the Hawks currently hold the number four spot in the AMCC standings.
  • Hilbert has won four straight games and is an impressive 9-3 at the Hafner Recreation Center, their home venue.
  • Senior guard Hunter Martineau leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game and ranks first in the conference and 6th in D-III with 7.0 assists per game. At just 5-11, Martineau also leads his team with 6.0 rebounds per game.
  • Senior guard Masia Phillips has been a big contributor as well, averaging 14.9 points per game (2nd best on team), 4.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game.
