Red Hot Shooting Leads Redhawks Past Medaille, 93-78

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Redhawks improved to 12-2 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in conference after defeating Medaille 93-78 on Saturday afternoon. La Roche earns their fourth straight victory and maintains a one game lead in the AMCC standings.

Zach Gould scored a game-high 21 points and hit 7 of 9 three-pointers. Tyler Frederick finished just a rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Austin Hannes (15 points) and Caden Kryz (12 points) used the long ball to reach double-figures. RayQuan Phifer dished out 9 assists and picked off 4 steals.

La Roche shot 57% from the field and were even better from three-point range where they hit 16 of 26 (62%).

Medaille remained in striking distance for a majority of the first half. The Mavericks battled, but Gould helped fend off the Medaille attack by stringing together four straight three-pointers for a 22-13 lead with 12:41 left in the half.

The Mavericks chipped away and grabbed a 31-30 lead on a pair of free throws. Hannes ran off the next ten points and the Redhawks entered halftime with a 40-34 lead.

The Redhawks stormed out of the lockerroom with a 21-3 run. La Roche allowed just one field goal over an eight minute stretch. Kryz drained a pair of three over the course of the run while Phifer picked up all four of his steals.

Luke McDonough hit a layup for La Roche's largest lead of the game at 85-55. The Redhawks went on to earn the twenty-five point victory.
