Redhawks Win AMCC Battle of Premier Wings

GREENSBURG, PA -- 

The La Roche Men's Basketball claims victory at Pitt Greensburg. Final score was 85-80 and La Roche improves to a 3-0 in AMCC Conference play. In a tight game throughout, senior Ray Quan Phifer went on a mini run to close out the game for the Redhawks. 

Playing a total of 38 minutes, Phifer put the team on his back tonight with 27 points. Not to be outdone sophmore and emerging AMCC force Cam Seigfreid of Pitt Greensburg led the way for the home team with 26 points. Tyler Frederick notched another double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. A Redhawks staple in victories over the last few years - the victors won the rebound batter (35-32).

In a balanced first half the Redhawk lead never climbed higher than six (20-14) on Phifer three pointer assisted by Kennedy Smith. Zach Gould continued his hot shooting connecting on three pointers on two seperate occassions. Kyle Bondi's mid range game and ten La Roche first half tournovers kept it close (35-31).

The second half turned into a true battle of the wings as Seigfreid did all he could to get Pitt Greensburg a signature win. He scored twelve points for the Bobcats to keep the game within reach. By the mid point of the second half, Greensburg had climbed in front pushing their lead to as much as (65-69) with 5 minutes remaining.  

 Phifer took over in final stretch with a 3 pointer to take the lead 77-74 with a minute left. He would go on to score seven straight himself before important free throws by Smith and Gould capped off the road victory (85-80).

The La Roche Redhawks season will continue on the road at D'Youville on Saturday, December 8 at 4:00pm.
