MARIETTA, OH -- The Redhawks closed the Shrine Tournament at Marietta College by coming back to beat Wesley College 91-80. La Roche earns their first win and improves to 1-1 on the season. The Redhawks are off until November 28 when they host Penn State Behrend in their AMCC Conference opener.

RayQuan Phifer made program history, becoming the fifteenth Redhawk to record 1000th career points. Phifer came into the game needing just one point to reach the milestone. He made quick work, draining a three-pointer less than three minutes after the opening tip.

Phifer tied a team-best with 23 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Austin Hannes was automatic from beyond the arc, hitting 7 threes on his way to a career-high 23 points. Zach Gould provided 16 points and 5 assists, while Caden Kryz contributed 11 points and Tyler Frederick 8 rebounds.

The Redhawks led by as many as nine points in the first half at 24-15. The Wolverines followed with 14 of the next 17 points, but La Roche recovered and went into halftime trailing just 43-39. The three ball kept the Redhawks in it during the first half. Hannes hit 4 of 5 first half three-pointers while La Roche converted on 8 of 19.

Wesley came out of intermission with an 8-2 run. The Redhawks stayed patient and made their way back with tough defense. La Roche hit 6 of their next 8 shots and Gould tied it with a three with 12:16 left to play.

Consecutive three pointers and two straight putbacks allowed the Redhawks to stretch their lead to nine. Wesley was forced to foul late and La Roche hit their free throws for the eleven point victory.
