The net was cut down and the championship game ball never had to leave its home gym. Now, the 2018 AMCC Men's Basketball Champion La Roche Redhawks, add some well-deserved individual awards to go along with their third AMCC trophy.

Head Coach Hermie Carmichael was voted the 2018 Co Coach of the Year. He is in his sixth year at his alma matter and it is the second time he has won the award (2016). Coach Carmichael is the leader of a staff that successfully recruited, built, and guided this group of young men to a (21-6, 17-2) regular season award. The Redhawks' season included a brutal non-conference schedule and a perfect home conference record, culminating in winning the AMCC Conference Championship and an automatic NCAA bid.

Senior Arnes Bajgora (Pittsburgh, PA), one of this year's captains, was selected to the 2018 All-Conference First Team. Bajgora averaged 13.2 ppg and 6.7 rpg and shot a career-high 37% from three-point range. Bajgora completed a stellar career, covering a steady climb from AMCC Newcomer of the Year (2015), to All-Conference Second Team (2016, 2017), to All-Conference First Team (2018).  With the NCAA Tournament still to come, Bajgora ranks second in La Roche Men's Basketball history in points (1,414) and rebounds (663).

Junior RayQuan Phifer (Struthers, OH) joins his teammates on the 2018 All-Conference First Team. Phifer, is one the AMCC's most athletic wings and ranked tenth in the AMCC in scoring at 13.7 ppg. Phifer used his ability to create his own shot, finish at the rim, and jump into passing lanes to improve on his All-Conference nod last season. (2017). He is nearing the 1,000 point club, and will be one of the AMCC's top returners in 2018-19.  

Sophmore Trell Thomas (Youngstown, OH) makes it an incredible three players on this year's All-Conference First Team. Thomas's ability to shoot from deep and a lethal floater allowed him to average 15.4 ppg. Thomas was instrumental in the Redhawks' AMCC Championship run and named to the All-Tournament Team.

La Roche is hoping to add to their already successful season and bring home their first NCAA Tournament win. They play at Johns Hopkins this Friday at 7:30pm.
