La Roche Wins Fourth Straight, Top Pitt-Bradford 84-67

BRADFORD, PA -- The La Roche men's basketball team won their fourth straight game after defeating Pitt-Bradford 84-67 on the road. With the victory, the Redhawks improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 against AMCC Conference competition.

RayQuan Phifer scored a team-high 18 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Arnes Bajgora finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Trell Thomas had 14 points and 4 three-pointers.

The Redhawks were extremely efficient shooting 51% from the field and hitting 12 of 28 three-pointers. They outrebounded Pitt-Bradford 41-27 and outscored them 18-2 in the paint.

The teams battled early with each side enjoying four point leads in the first fourteen minutes. Pitt-Bradford held a 24-20 lead with 6:08 left in the first half but a Dion Etheridge three pointer cut it to 24-23. Tyler Frederick followed with a steal and coast-to-coast dunk and Phifer drained a three for a 28-24 advantage.

Pitt-Bradford hit a three but the Redhawks closed the half on 14-0 run and entered intermission with a 40-27 lead. Phifer and Thomas each hit threes over the course of the run.

La Roche created space by scoring the first seven points of the second half. The Redhawks got things started on an Etheridge steal and Bajgora layup and Phifer and Etheridge followed with buckets.

A Thomas three-pointer extended the lead to twenty-two points with 16:22 left. Bajgora drained a three a minute later and the Redhawks cruised from there. Bajgora scored 12 second half points and hit 4 of 5 shots.

La Roche will take a break from conference play and host #6 Marietta on Monday at 7pm. Today, Marietta lost on a buzzer beater against Baldwin Wallace.
