Redhawks Conclude Play In Florida

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – La Roche baseball concluded play in the Sunshine State on Friday, but it was one to forget, falling to Southern Maine, 17-0, in seven innings.

The Huskies wasted no time hitting the scoreboard, driving in five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead.

The deficit for the Redhawks tripled in the bottom of the second, as 10 runs crossed for Southern Maine.

The Huskies scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Eli Thomas got the start and threw just one inning, allowing five runs, one hit and walked three.

Four relievers combined to throw 0.2 innings of the second inning, allowing 10 runs, six hits and five walks.

Bryson Bubb pitched the final out of the second and the remainder of the game, a total of 4.1 innings, allowing two runs, three hits, two walks and struck out five.

Offensively, La Roche ended game one with five hits, as Tanner Schmitt went 2-for-2 and Caden Maffitt ended 2-for-3.

The Redhawks return home and look to get back on track as they host Thiel on Wednesday, Mar. 19 at 3 p.m.
