Redhawks Offense Erupts, Take Down Falcons For Third Time In 10-7 Victory

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – La Roche baseball met Albertus Magnus for the third time in Myrtle Beach on Thursday night, making a perfect 3-for-3 against the Falcons, coming out with a 10-7 win.

The Redhawks were hot offensively from the start, plating at least one run in each of the first four innings.

In the top of the first, Brandon Snyder drove in Josh Dreyer with an RBI single to open the scoring and make it 1-0.

Dreyer drove in the lone run of the second inning, recording an RBI by way of a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

A pair of runs crossed in the top of the third for La Roche to make it 4-0, thanks to Dom Brncic's two RBI single that plated Christian Melendez and Dimitri Gary.

The unanswered runs continued in the top of the fourth, when Casey Jones ripped a two RBI double, scoring Snyder and Danny Suarez, helping grow the lead to 6-0.

Albertus Magnus hit the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth to respond, cutting the deficit in half to 6-3 behind an RBI double and a pair of RBI singles.

The Redhawks only went one inning without scoring, the fifth, then closed their scoring in the game with four runs in the top of the sixth.

Gary got it started with a solo home run, his third of the season, followed by Brncic's second RBI single of the game.

Tanner Schmitt closed the scoring for La Roche with a two-run homer, his first of the campaign, helping up the Redhawks lead to 10-3.

The Falcons would chip away, cutting the deficit to 10-6 in the bottom of the sixth behind an RBI single and two RBI single.

The ninth inning was nerve wrecking, despite La Roche leading 10-6, as the first three Albertus Magnus batters reach by way of a hit by pitch and a pair of walks.

A strikeout followed for the first out, but another walk led to the deficit being cut to 10-7.

Bases still loaded and only one out, the Redhawks locked in, picking up another strikeout and a fly out in succession to close the door.

Chris Tarquinio got the start for La Roche, tossing four innings, allowing three runs, six hits, three walks and struck out two.

Robbie Klaska threw two innings of relief, allowing three runs, two hits, four walks and set down two, while Caden Maffitt also threw a pair of innings, allowing one run, no hits, one walk and struck out four.

Jones came in the ninth inning and closed the door with a pair of walks and strikeouts.

Offensively, the Redhawks peppered the Falcons, as they strung together 18 hits.

Jones (4-for-5), Brncic (4-for-5) and Gary (4-for-6) had monster nights at the dish combining for 12 of the 18 hits, while Suarez and Snyder each had two-hit games of their own.

La Roche's turnaround is quick, as today, Friday Mar. 15 it meets Plymouth State for a doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. with game two immediately following.
