Redhawks Fall To Titans 9-4 On Road

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – La Roche baseball took the road to face Westminster on Saturday afternoon, however were unable to get past the Titans, falling 9-4.

It was Westminster setting the tone in the bottom of the second inning, putting up six runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

The first four runs scored by the Titans came on bases loaded walks, followed by a runner scoring on a wild pitch and concluded with a sacrifice fly.

The Redhawks scored their first run in the top of the fourth when Dimitri Gary scored after a defense error to make it 6-1.

Westminster scored the next three runs, beginning with an RBI hit by pitch in the bottom fourth, then a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth after an RBI bases loaded walk and another sacrifice fly.

La Roche did its best to fight back, putting up the final three runs of the game to make it 7-4 in the top of the seventh.

Tanner Schmitt opened the scoring with an RBI single to score Larry Bielawski, followed by Samuel DiCicco's RBI single that plated Dom Brncic.

The scoring closed with an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Gary, allowing Damon Foster to cross the plate.

Zach Gift got the start for the Redhawks, tossing six innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned), five hits, 11 walks and fanned four.

In relief, Chris Tarquinio pitched two scoreless and hitless innings, striking out one.

Offensively, La Roche put together nine hits, with Bielawski and DiCicco both putting together 2-for-4 outings to lead the way.

The Redhawks return to the diamond on Monday, Mar. 4 at 4:30 p.m. when they travel to Washington & Jefferson.
