Baseball Tabbed Seventh In AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - La Roche baseball placed seventh in the AMCC Preseason Poll, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

The Redhawks placement in the poll matches their finish in the 2023 AMCC standings, ending last year with an overall record of 13-21 and 4-10 in AMCC play.

Two players earned mention in the players to watch category, including returning left-handed pitcher Cameron Mauk, who last season pitched to an ERA of 4.84, while holding batters to an average of .234.

Newcomer Larry Bielawski also earned player to watch laurels, as the CCAC utilityman/pitcher transfer comes to La Roche after earning Third Team All-America honors.

Leading the poll is defending champion Alfred State, followed by runner up Penn St.-Behrend. Penn St.-Altoona comes in third place, while Mt. Aloysius and Hilbert round out the top five.

One spot ahead of the Redhawks in sixth is Pitt-Greensburg, and rounding out the poll behind La Roche in places eight and nine are Pitt-Bradford and Wells.

The Redhawks are scheduled to open the 2024 season on Saturday, Feb. 24, meeting Waynesburg on the reoad in double-header action at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

La Roche opens play at home on Friday, Mar. 1 against Penn St.-Greater Allegheny.
