La Roche Captures Double-Digit Victory at Home

PITTSBURGH, PA - La Roche Baseball played a quick nine-inning game this afternoon against the Penn State- Greater Allegheny Lions to get warmed up for their first conference matchup of the season coming up this Saturday. The Redhawks had themselves a day at the plate and brought home a win, 15-1, and 15 hits to go along with it. 

Josh Dreyer set an example for his teammates this afternoon with 2 hits, and 4 RBIs during his time against the Lions' pitchers. 

The quick baserunning by Zach Keib scored the very first run for La Roche. Keib made it all the way from first to second on a wild pitch, was pushed over once more by a teammate to third, and on one more wild pitch he took his opportunity to score the first run for the Redhawks, stealing home plate. 

The third and fourth innings were big for the team, each seeing 5 runs scored. La Roche racked up 15 hits on the day. Dryer, Zach Keib, Dylan Chan, Kyle Weitzel, and Nate Darwin each earned more than one hit during their time at bat. Tanner Kobal, Christian Melendez, Mason Brooks, Nathan Stutz, and Shane Murphy each collected a hit on the day. 

Earning the win on the hill for La Roche is Sam DiCicco. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits over 6 innings. The hurler faced 26 batters and threw 109 pitches. 

Shane Murphy came in for one inning in relief, facing 3 batters to end the game in 7 innings. 

The Redhawks didn't commit a single error in the field; Keib made the most plays with 8. 

La Roche will be on the road for their first conference game this Saturday at Penn State Behrend.
