Redhawks Sweep Pitt-Bradford, Clinch AMCC Regular Season Title

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche University Redhawks clinched their sixth straight AMCC Regular Season Title and the right to host the conference tournament after sweeping Pitt-Bradford 4-1, 8-3 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, Pitt Bradford scored an early first run making fans nervous that La Roche might be in for some close games, but La Roche shut them down with four runs of their own to make the final score 4-1.

With runs contributed by Austin Hoffman, Jonathan Spina, Tristin Tinney, and Dylan Urban, Pitt Bradford didn't stand a chance of a comeback. Travis Holman's pitching is something to be noted as well. With only 1 run and 10 strikeouts, the opposition rarely saw first base. Holman improved to 5-0 on the season and now leads the AMCC in strikeouts.

In the second game, La Roche scored 8 runs off of 7 hits and never saw an error. Jay Novak went 2 for 3, with 2 RBI, 2 walks run, double, and stolen base. Spina had a quality game going 2 for 4, with 2 RBI, and a run. Nania and Roebuck each scored twice.

Alek Tesla was on the mound all 9 innings today and was able to strikeout 7 opposing batters to hold the final score at 8-3, La Roche. Tesla improves to 5-1 n the season.

Joe Professori, Joshua Kuderian, Brandon Nania, Jonathan Spina, Jonathan Melendez, and Shane Roebuck will see the field tomorrow for their senior day in a non-conference double header against Marietta at 1:30 and 4:00.
