La Roche 8 Pitt Greensburg 6
La Roche got into an early hole as Pitt-Greensburg scored a run in the first and then three more in the second.
Shane Roebuck got a run back, belting his fourth homer of the season for a 4-1 game in the second. The Redhawks strung together a series of two-out hits to tie it. A Brandon Nania RBI double scored Hudson Novak to cut the deficit to two runs. Jonathan Melendez followed with a run-scoring triple, and Melendez trotted home on an Austin Hoffman single up the middle.
Zach Oddi came into relieve and followed with 1-2-3 innings in the third and fourth. The Redhawks added two runs in the bottom of those innings. Roebuck led off the inning with a single and Novak followed with a walk. Tristen Tinney and Troy Kifer followed with bunt singles to give the Redhawks a 6-4 third inning lead.
La Roche advanced runners to the corners in the fourth inning. A Roebuck sac fly scored Spina and Professori advanced home on a Novak single into left field.
Pitt-Greensburg struck for a pair in the fifth. Mike Nuzzo came into relieve in the sixth and seventh. He threw a perfect seventh and got out of a jam to close it in the seventh Roebuck went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI, and home run. Novak hit in a run and scored twice.
Zachary Oddi threw three innings of relief to earn his first collegiate win. Mike Nuzzo earned his first career save.
La Roche 5 Pitt-Greensburg 4
Dustin Lander opened with two scoreless innings but Pitt-Greensburg took a 1-0 lead with a sac fly in the third.
La Roche backed Lander with three runs in the bottom of the third. Melendez hit a one out triple to the wall and scored on a Hoffman double. Hoffman scored two batters later on a Professori single. Roebuck came through with a two out triple for a 3-1 lead.
Pitt-Greensburg scored an unearned run in the fourth. Lander followed with two perfect innings, but the Bobcats tied it in the seventh.
The Redhawks went down in order in the seventh and eighth innings and Pitt-Greensburg converted a two out RBI single to take the lead.
La Roche walked it off it the bottom of the ninth.
Novak drew a leadoff walk and Simpson, who pinch ran for Novak, advanced to second base on a Tinney sacrifice bunt. Kifer drove in Simpson to tie it at 4-4.
Up came Melendez who won it with a double into centerfield to score Kifer.
Melendez went 2 for 3 with a double, triple, a run, RBI, and walk. Professori had 2 hits, scored and hit in a batter. Hoffman doubled, scored, and hit in a run.
