Nania Homer Sends It Into Extras, But Redhawks Fall To Wooster In 11 Innings

PITTSBURGH, PA --Brandon Nania hit a ninth inning home run to send it into extras, but the Redhawks fell to #8 Wooster 6-4 in 11 innings.

Wooster scored two unearned runs in the top of the first inning. The Redhawks left a runner on third to end the first.

Tre Thomas sent Wooster down in order in the second and then he left runners on in the third and fourth innings. 

La Roche cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth. Hudson Novak drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third when Jon Spina got aboard on an error. Tristen Tinney got the job done, hitting a sacrifice fly into left field.

Thomas followed with a scoreless fifth but Wooster gained distance with a run in the sixth. 

La Roche answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Spina led off the inning with a single and then swiped second base to get into scoring position. Tinney bunted Spina over and Dylan Urban knocked him in to make it 4-2.

Thomas left Wooster runners on in the seventh and Jacob Seymour followed with a scoreless eighth inning. 

The Redhawks stranded runners at first and second in the bottom of the eighth.

Professor caught a runner trying to steal second to give the Redhawks a chance in the ninth. Brandon Nania came through, belting a 3-2 pitch over the right-centerfield wall, hitting the scoreboard and tying it at 3-3.

Seymour went 1-2-3 in the top of the tenth, but the Fighting Scots struck for three in the eleventh. 

The Redhawks got one back in the bottom of the inning, but the tying run never got aboard.

Nania went 3 for 5 with a home run, RBI, and scored. Joe Professori hit a 2-run double and walked twice.

Thomas was excellent on the mound, allowing just 1 earned run over 7 innings. Seymour threw 3 scoreless innings and struck out 4.
