#18 Redhawks Soar, Top #22 Adrian 17-5

PITTSBURGH, PA – #18 La Roche College picked up a big non-conference victory on Monday afternoon. The Redhawks cruised to a 17-5 victory over #22 Adrian College to earn their fifth win in the past three days. Adrian had won eleven straight coming into today's action.

Starter Nick Tunstall used three straight flyouts to get out of a perfect top of the first inning.

The Redhawk' offense gave Tunstall some breathing room with six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Joe Professori, Shane Roebuck, and Jay Novak drew walks to load the bases with two outs. Jonathan Melendez singled up the middle to give the Redhawks a 2-0 lead.

Gino Quahliero was hit by a pitch to load the bases again. An error and wild pitch allowed two runs to score. Austin Hoffman made it 6-0 with a 2-run single up the middle.

Adrian scored an unearned run in the top of the second but the Redhawks took a 10-1 lead in the bottom of the inning. Dylan Urban roped a 2-out double into centerfield to score Professori. Melendez and Quahliero followed with singles and Elmo Trickett doubled to score both.

Tunstall threw a scoreless third but the Bulldogs struck for two runs in the fourth. Adrian added an unearned run in the fifth.

Jake Seymour entered in relief to start the sixth and sent Adrian down in order.

The Redhawks extended their lead to 13-4 in the bottom of the sixth. Spina led off with a single and scored on a Roebuck single to short. Urban drove in Roebuck while Melendez hit a fly ball into left field to score Novak.

Seymour tossed a scoreless top of the seventh and the Redhawk offense drove in three more. Professori and Roebuck provided RBI doubles while Novak had an RBI single through the left side.

Adrian scored in the top of the eighth, but a Roebuck RBI double got it right back in the bottom of the inning.

She Emrich tossed a perfect ninth inning to preserve the 17-5 victory.

Roebuck went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs, and 2 doubles. Melendez hit in four and scored twice. Professori scored three runs and Urban, Trickett, and Hoffman each had 2 RBIs.

Tunstall did not allow an earned run over five innings to improve to 6-1. Seymour, Ryan and Emrich combined for four innings without an earned run.
