AMCC to Host Virtual 5k

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Tuesday morning, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) announced they would be hosting a virtual 5k titled "AMCC Take-A-Break-For-Self-Care". The event is free and open to all AMCC student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff, FARs and Presidents/Chancellors. The race took off virtually on Tuesday, October 20th and will run through Sunday, November 1st.

In an online release, the AMCC stated "The focus of the race is on the mental health and well-being of the hundreds of student-athletes, coaches and administrators of the AMCC during these challenging times. The AMCC hopes this event inspires everyone to get outside, socially distance, eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, and have fun!".

WHEN/HOW:

The registration form can be completed anytime between now and November 1st. Participants must complete their 5k run or walk by November 1st. Once you complete the 5k, send an email with you name, "title" (student-athlete or staff member), school, and time to amcc5K@gmail.com. Time submissions are due by 12:00pm on Monday, November 2.

Once completed, we encourage you to post a photo/selfie of yourself participating in the race on social media, include the hashtag #AMCCmentalhealthmatters5K. In the caption, tell everyone your favorite stress release tip (Take a nap! Walk my dog! etc.).

PRIZES:

All registered participants that run or walk a 5K and submit their time will receive a free AMCC Take-A-Break-Self-Care 5K T-Shirt!

Bragging rights will be earned by those that record the fastest time in their category: AMCC Student-Athletes (M/F by sport) | AMCC Athletic Dept. Staff/Coaches, FARs & Presidents (M/F)

Overall Best Costume - let's get in that Halloween spirit and have some fun! (best costume will not be contingent on time).

The school with the highest percentage of student-athlete participants will also be recognized!
