Redhawks Take Down Panthers For First AMCC Win Of Season

BRADFORD, Pa. – La Roche volleyball picked up its second win in as many days, defeating Pitt-Bradford 3-1 to pick up its first AMCC win of the season.

 

In set one, it was the Redhawks who dominated. Opening up an 8-4 lead early, they would go on to score 14 of the next 16 points in route to a 25-8 set win.

 

That strong play continued in set two, however this time the set was tied 10-10. From there, La Roche scored 15 of the final 20 to take a 2-0 with a 25-15 set victory.

 

Set three saw Pitt-Bradford pull out its first set victory of the match, winning in extra points, 27-25, making a massive comeback.

 

The Redhawks dominated the first half of the set and were well ahead, leading 16-4.

 

The Panthers went on from that point to score 13 of the next 16 points to make it just a 19-17 set lead for La Roche.

 

After alternating points to 22-19, a 5-1 run gave Pitt-Bradford a 24-23 lead, then countered by the Redhawks to lead 25-24, but the Panthers scored the final three to take the set.

 

The fourth and final set was even early on, as La Roche held a slight 12-10 lead.

 

Much like set two, the Redhawks locked in and score 13 of the final 19 points in the set to seal the victory with a 25-16 set win.

 

Senior Lauren Tomasko led the offense with a game-high 11 kills, followed by freshman Aislyn Williams and her nine kills.

 

In the assist box, senior's Madison Johnson and Emily Kasun combined for 35 as they had 19 and 16 respectively.

 

Defensively, senior Mackenzie Kerkan notched a game-high 24 digs, with fellow senior Morgan Johnson adding in 12 and Tomasko gave herself a double-double with 14 digs.

 

La Roche concludes its brief two-game road trip on Wednesday, Oct. 11 when the meet Carlow at 7 p.m.
