Redhawks Win Streak Halted By Cougars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche volleyball's eight game win streak ended Wednesday night at the hands of Chatham by a final score of 3-0.

 

The visiting Cougars made quick work of the opening two sets, downing the Redhawks by finals of 25-13 and 25-12.

 

Set three saw La Roche make a late run, but in the end, it was Chatham who took the victory 25-19.

 

After falling behind early, 14-5, the Redhawks battled with a 5-0 run to trim the edge to 14-10.

 

That deficit would grow to 21-13, but La Roche kept battling, outscoring the Cougars 6-2 to cut the score to 23-19. However, the last two points belonged to Chatham to end the night.

 

On the night, junior Quinn Hughes put together six kills for the team high, while senior Lauren Tomasko followed with four.

 

Senior Madison Johnson was the team leader with six assists, while fellow senior Emily Kasun chipped in five.

 

Defensively, senior Mackenzie Kerkan led the team with 15 digs, while Tomasko added six.

 

The Redhawks get a week of respite before returning to the court on Thursday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Greensburg, Pa. to face Pitt-Greensburg at 7 p.m.
