Women's Volleyball Shutout Alfred St. at Home

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Redhawks collected their second conference win on the season this afternoon against Alfred St. in straight sets at the Kerr Sport and Fitness Center. Today marks the Redhawks 3rd shutout of the season and the second in their last three matches. As a unit La Roche limited their mistakes (only recording 12 compared to Alfred St)

Final: La Roche: 3, Alfred St: 0

Records: La Roche (6-13, AMCC: 2-2), Alfred St. (6-8, AMCC: 0-3)

The first and second sets of today's match were extremley competitive; La Roche taking both by a combined four points (26-24, 26-24). In the first set, the Pioneers went on a 6-1 run towards the end, but the Redhawks were able to fend them off to go up 1-0. 

The second set was a similar story; La Roche took a commanding lead to start (leading by as many as six points) before Alfred St went on a 7-0 run to go up 20-19. La Roche once again would prevail and go up 2-0 heading into the third set. 

The third set was tied up half-way through until the Redhawks went on a 12-2 run to take the lead and eventually win the match. 


LEADING THE ATTACK: Junior middle hitter Ingrid Spear and Freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Jeric each recorded 7 kills to lead the team. Seven different Redhawks recorded multiple kills in the match.

SET EM' UP: Senior setter Bailey McDonald led the Redhawks with 15 assists.

BACK ROW PLAY: Senior setter Erin Connor led the Redhawks with 13 digs. 

AT THE NET: Spear recorded three solo blocks to lead La Roche. In total, 8 blocks were recorded by five different Redhawks.
