Redhawks Fall in Heartbreaker at Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - Women's volleyball lost their second conference game of the season on the road this evening to the Mt. Aloysius Mounties in a tight 3-2 battle. Tonight marks the third time this year La Roche has taken their opponents to five sets; they are currently 0-3 in those matches. The Redhawks took a very good Mt. Aloysius team down to the wire, coming back from a 2-1 deficit and taking the final set to 30 points (16-14). The Redhawks mostly struggled in the second and third sets this evening, being outscored by the Mounties 50-24. In the other three sets, La Roche outscored Mt. Aloysius 64-61.

LEADING THE ATTACK: Junior middle hitter Ingrid Spear led La Roche with 9 kills on the night while recording an efficient .250 hittting percentage. On the season, Spear has a .245 hitting percentage (5th in the AMCC) on 105 kills (1st on team). 

SET EM' UP: Senior setter Bailey McDonald recorded 17 assists on the night to lead the Redhawks. Last season, in 88 sets Bailey had 292 assists. This season, in 65 sets, she has 293 assists, good enough for 6th in the AMCC. McDonald has recorded at least 15 assists in 11 matches this season. 

BACK ROW PLAY: Freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Jeric led the team with 17 digs to go along 6 kills. The dig mark is her second highest this season. Three other Redhawks finished with 14 digs each (McDonald, Freshman setter Cassidi Rossi & Senior Setter Erin Connor). 

AT THE NET: Ingrid Spear tied her career-high in total blocks tonight with six (4 solo and 2 assisted). The last time she recorded 6 blocks was on this exact date in 2018 against Pitt-Bradford. 

NEXT UP: Women's volleyball is back home at the Kerr Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday, October 5th to take on Alfred St. beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Redhawks own a 3-2 record at home this season.
