Women's Volleyball Struggles in Road Competition

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The La Roche Women's Volleyball team lost a close match in 5 sets to non-conference opponent Waynesburg University tonight at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Entering tonight, the Redhawks had won five of their last six matchups against the Yellow Jackets, including a 3-0 shutout earlier this season (9/3). Tonight's match was hard fought and competitive, so much so that neither team was able to win consecutive sets. 

Final Score: La Roche 2, Waynesburg 3 (20-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18, 13-15)

Records: La Roche (4-5), Waynesburg (1-6)

LEADING THE ATTACK: Senior Christine Aland and Sophomore Bethany Nulph each led the team with 8 kills a piece. 

SET EM' UP: Senior Bailey McDonald once again led the Redhawks with 12 assists on the night. She has recorded 10 or more assists in 8 out 9 matches so far this season. 

BACK ROW PLAY: Senior Erin Connor recorded a team high 17 digs. This season, Connor has had five games with 15 or more digs. In her previous three seasons, she had one. 

HOME SWEET HOME: Entering tonight, The Redhawks have prospered under the lights at the Kerr Sport & Fitness Center, recording a 3-1 record while averaging 9.2 kills/set, a 1.95 hit percentage and 1.47 blocks/set. At away or neutral sites, La Roche has 1-4 record while averaging 8.4 kills/set, 0.90 hit percentage and 1.0 blocks/set. 

NEXT UP: The women's volleyball team heads to Steubenville, Ohio on September 14th to play their first conference game of the season against the Franciscan Barons.
