Penn State Behrend Tops Volleyball in AMCC Tournament Semifinal

ERIE, PA -- The La Roche College volleyball team's season came to a close after falling at Penn State Behrend 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16) on Saturday in the AMCC Tournament Semifinals. The Redhawks enjoyed a successful season and have won at least one postseason match the past five seasons.

Set 1:

Both La Roche and Penn State Behrend held leads by as many as four points in the first set. The Lions took a 13-11 lead but the Redhawks scored seven of the next eight points to swing the momentum. La Roche took advantage of five Lion mistakes while Laura Nath and Reilee Bradford contributed kills.

Penn State Behrend responded with their own run, tallying off seven straight points. Nath and Bradford kills stalled the run, but the Lions took set one 25-22.

Set 2:

The Redhawks put together a thrilling comeback to win set two 25-23. Penn State Behrend held a 21-14 edge before La Roche strung together an 11-2 run.

Hannah Scott sparked the run with a serving ace. Janet Aland and Laura Nath provided aces and Penn State Behrend hit into five errors. Kayla Gramm close the set, throwing down two straight kills for a two point victory.

Set 3:

The Redhawks could not match Penn State Behrend over the middle portion of the third set. The Lions held a slim 13-10 lead, but they stretched their lead to 22-12 with solid play at the net.

Nath stopped the run with a kill and the Redhawks closed the gap to seven. Behrend ended the third set with three straight for the for the 25-15 win.

Set 4:

La Roche hung tough in set four. Penn State Behrend held a 16-11 lead, but the Redhawks refused to quit and seniors Nath and Sarah Storino provided kills to get La Roche back within one.

The Redhawks ran out of steam down the stretch, and Penn State Behrend earned the set and the match.

Nath closed her incredible career with 11 kills. Storino was excellent in her final collegiate match and had 12 assist.
