Redhawk Volleyball Picks Up Impressive Sweep at Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, PA -- The Redhawks picked up an impressive conference road victory, downing Penn State Altoona 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-19) on Wednesday evening. La Roche improves to 10-11 and climb into fourth in the AMCC at 3-2.

The Redhawks ran an efficient offense, registering 34 kills to just 9 errors. Laura Nath had a team-high 10 kills while Bethany Nulph and Ingrid Spear each had 5 kills. Sarah Storino finished with a game-high 22 assists and Bailey McDonald had 11 assists. Four Redhawks reached double figure digs, including Hannah Scott who contributed twenty.

La Roche never trailed in the first two sets, and they trailed for just four points in the third set.

The Redhawks used a combination of kills and Penn State Altoona errors to take the first set. They upped a 12-12 tie to a 16-12 lead with four straight Lion errors. La Roche traded two points for Altoona's one point, and Nath slammed down a spike to end the set at 25-17.

The Redhawks cruised in the second set. Nulph and Christine Aland contributed kills to a 4-1 start. La Roche continued to battle, and their largest run of the set stretched the lead from 15-8 to 18-8. Reilee Bradford closed the set at 25-12 with two straight kills.

La Roche opened the third set scoring 5 of the first 7 points. Altoona followed with five straight points. The Redhawks recovered and tied it at 12-12. They followed with three straight points and a Nulph kill eventually ended the set and the match.

The Redhawks host conference-undefeated Penn State Behrend on Saturday.
