Redhawks Cruise to Sweep at Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, PA -- The La Roche College volleyball team made quick work on Tuesday night, sweeping Pitt-Greensburg 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-23). The Redhawks improve to 9-10 overall and 2-2 in the AMCC.

Bethany Nulph paced the offense with 17 points. She threw down 8 kills with no errors. Nulph was nearly unhittable on her serves, limiting rallies with 7 serving aces.

Laura Nath was right behind with 7 kills and a game-high 12 digs. Sarah Storino and Bailey McDonald each set up 13 kills.

The Redhawks were dominant on the front line. Ingrid Spear had 6 blocks and Janet Aland 5 blocks.

La Roche had to battle in the early portions of the match. Pitt-Greensburg kept up point for point, and were tied at 11-11 in set #1. Nulph came to serve, and the Redhawks responded with 14 of the next 15 points for the win. Four of Nulph's seven aces came during the run.

Set #2 was never in doubt. La Roche took advantage of Pitt-Greensburg errors to take a 2-2 game to 8-2. Just once did the Redhawks allow Pitt-Greensburg to score more than one point in a row.

La Roche led 23-16 in set #3. They looked to close the match, but the Bobcats rallied to get within one at 24-23. Nath ended the threat, spiking down a McDonald set.
