John Carroll Gets Past La Roche Volleyball

Pittsburgh, PA -- The La Roche College volleyball team's difficult non-conference schedule continued when they welcomed John Carroll University to campus on Wednesday evening. The Redhawks fought to defend their home court, but came up on the losing end of a 3-0 match (25-11, 25-17, 25-17). La Roche falls to 2-7 but have the opportunity to get two wins this weekend at the Clark Summit Trimatch.

John Carroll went wire to wire in the first set, but La Roche remained competitive in the second and third sets.

The Redhawks traded points over the first half of game #2. Every time it looked like one squad would make a run, the other squad had the answer. John Carroll grabbed the first two point advantage at 13-11, but Reilee Bradford quickly brought it back to 13-12.  The Blue Streak followed with seven straight points and took the set.

La Roche took control early in the third set and led by as many as four points. The Redhawks climbed ahead thanks to John Carroll errors and a Bailey McDonald service ace. The Blue Streaks recovered and turned a four point deficit into a 22-16 lead. La Roche got a point back, but John Carroll hung on for the 25-17 set 3 win and the match.

The Redhawks struggled on offense, hitting into 21 errors to their 20 kills. Hannah Scott had a team-high 17 digs despite the loss.
