Westminster Upends Women's Volleyball

NEW WILMINGTON, PA -- The La Roche College women's volleyball team battled but came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) match at Westminster College on Tuesday evening. Westminster was selected by coaches as the PAC Conference's Preseason Champion.

The Redhawks answered almost every Westminster run in set #1. La Roche held a lead as late as 15-14 and were within a point at 20-19. The Titans rallied off four straight points for game point, but the Redhawks refused to concede and answered with three of their own. The Titans were able to get a kill and escape with the first game. Laura Nath, Christine Aland, and Bethany Nulph all had aces and Nath provided five kills.

La Roche overcame an early set #2 deficit when a Nulph kill tied it at 11-11. Westminster responded with six straight points, and despite La Roche's best efforts, took the game 25-19. Nath again provided five kills.

The Redhawks controlled play in the first half of set #3 with Nath, Nulph, Reilee Bradford, and Hailey Ebersole providing kills. La Roche's progress stalled midway through the set. Westminster scored 9 of the next 10 points and held on for the 25-21 victory. La Roche struggled on serving defense, as Westminster finished with 4 aces in the third set.

Nath had a game-high 15 kills. Sarah Storino set up 15 kills and Hannah Scott picked up 33 digs.
