Volleyball Drops LRC Tournament Saturday Matches

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche College women's volleyball team fell to 1-2 on the season after dropping the final two LRC Tournament matches on Saturday morning. The Redhawks fell to Chatham 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 26-24) and Hiram 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-13).

La Roche held the advantage late into match 1's first set, but Chatham rallied for the set's final four points. Chatham broke a 23-23 tie and earned the 25-23 set 2 victory, before overcoming a late deficit to win the third set 26-24.

Laura Nath had a game-high 11 kills, while Bethany Nulph had 9 kills and Christine Aland 8 kills. Hannah Scott continued to dominate the digs department, picking up 31. Sarah Storino had 21 assists and Bailey McDonald had 14.

The Redhawks stayed within striking distance in the late match. They raillied late in the first set to make it a 21-18 game, but a pair of Hiram kills and a service ace ended the threat.

Hiram closed set 2 with three straight kills, and La Roche struggled in set 3. 

Nulph had two serving aces and Scott 13 digs.
