Volleyball Opens Conference Play With Sweep at Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY -- The La Roche women's volleyball team opened AMCC Conference play with a 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-20, 25-13) at Hilbert College on Saturday. The Redhawks are now just 1 of 2 undefeated teams in the AMCC.

La Roche had absolutely no trouble in set 1 as they cruised to a 25-7 victory. The Redhawks turned 10 kills into points in the game while committing just three errors. Hilbert committed seven unforced errors and were only able to turn three kills into points.

Hilbert improved in game 2 but the Redhawks were able to hold on for a 25-20 victory. La Roche scored 11 of their 25 points into kills but their 8 errors allowed the Hawks to hang around. The Redhawks were terrific in the third set and were aided by nine Hilbert errors.

La Roche's serving was excellent. They finished with 11 serving aces while Laura Nath and Sarah Hooper led the way with four each. Toni Torchia had a game-high 8 kills and Maddie Gestrich set up 16 assists. Hannah Scott paced the defense with 12 digs and Torchia reached double figures with 10.
