Women's Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match to Westminster

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's volleyball team dropped their sixth straight match after being swept by Westminster 3-0 on Wednesday (25-20, 25-15, 25-10). Westminster improves to 7-1 while La Roche falls to 2-9.

The Redhawks hung strong in the opening set and twice overcame four point deficits. La Roche had the score tied at 19-19 but Westminster closed on a 6-1 run and earned the set one victory. Tonia Torchia led the Redhawks with 4 kills and 7 digs.

The second set was another back and forth affair. The lead changed seven times and was tied 12-12 before the Titans ran off thirteen of the next sixteen points. Hannah Scott was terrific on the defensive end tallying 8 digs in the set.

Westminster took control early in the third set and cruised from there.

Torchia finished with 7 kills and Nath 6. Scott paced the defense with a game-high 20 digs while Janet Aland contributed 3 block assists.

The Redhawks return to action on Saturday with their tri-match. They will play Oberlin at 10am and Earlham at 2pm.
