Nath AMCC Preseason Player of the Year as Redhawks Selected to Finish Third, Scott Preseason Player to Watch

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference is predicting that La Roche volleyball will get back to the postseason after choosing the Redhawks to place third in today's preseason poll. Laura Nath is the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year becoming the first-ever Redhawk to receive the honor. Pitt-Bradford is expected to repeat as conference champions.

The Redhawks are looking to earn a fifth straight trip to the AMCC Tournament Semifinals. Last year they narrowly missed a berth in the championship match after falling to Penn State Altoona in five sets. They placed third in the AMCC Conference and hosted their first-ever postseason match.

Leading the way for the Redhawks are 2017 AMCC Players to Watch Laura Nath and Hannah Scott.

Nath is a two-time All-Conference performer and Player of the Week. She led the AMCC with 4.38 kills per set and 438 kills. Her 4.38 kills per set ranked ninth in AMCC history and thirteenth nationally.  Last season, she also finished fourteenth in the nation in kills.

Scott was the 2016 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and led the AMCC with 7.58 digs per set and 735 digs. Her 7.58 digs per set ranked second in AMCC history and her 735 digs rank third. They also ranked third and sixteenth nationally in the same categories.

La Roche will open the 2017 season at the St. Vincent Tournament on September 2-3. They will travel to Hilbert for their conference-opener on September 30 and host AMCC Champion Pitt-Bradford on October 21.
