Women's Tennis Finish Bradford Match Early Due to Weather

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Redhawks fell short tonight visiting Pitt Bradford at the outdoor Kessel Athletic Complex 5-1 in their final conference match of the season. La Roche finishes 2019 with a 2-6 conference record, collecting wins against Penn St. Behrend (9/6) and Pitt Greensburg (10/2). The teams decided to call the match early to the cold conditions. First and third doubles did not finish nor did 1st, 2nd or 4th singles. 

Final:  La Roche: 1, Pitt Bradford: 5

Highlights: 

  • Junior Rochelle Selzer and Freshman Alexandra Jaksec's 15 game match at first doubles ended with a score of 8-7 (tiebreaker score: 7-4). The match was extremely competitive, but since Bradford had already won the match, the teams decided to decided to end the match unconclusive. Selzer and Jaksec remain 6-3 at first doubles on the season. 
  • After starting the season 1-4, second doubles duo Junior's Jazmyn Daivs and Alexandra Mroczkowski have turned things around and gone 4-1 in their last 5 matchups. Their 8-6 win tonight kept the Redhawks from their second shutout of the season. 
  • After making the switch from third to fourth singles with Davis half way through the year, Mroczkowkski has gone 4-0 at the position. Her four wins are the fourth most in the AMCC at fourth singles. Tonight her match was unfinished.
