Penn St. Altoona Tops Women's Tennis 6-3

ALTOONA, Pa. - La Roche women's tennis lost on the road this afternoon 6-3 against conference opponent Penn St. Altoona at the Ivyside Tennis Courts on Altoona's campus. The young tennis squad may have a 2-6 record, but they have remained competitive in nearly every match. Four of the six Redhawks losses this season have been decided by only three games.

Highlights:

  • Junior Alexandra Mroczkowski (Pittsburgh, PA) continued her hot streak at fourth singles today winning her third straight individual match (fourth in last five games) 6-2, 6-4 to improve to 4-2 at fourth singles (5-3 overall). 
  • Alexandra Jaksec continued her impressive Freshman campaign this afternoon at second singles picking up her fifth win of the season in two sets 6-2, 6-0. Jaksec is 5-2 on the year at second singles and 5-3 overall. 
  • First doubles team Senior Rochelle Selzer and Alexandra Jaksec also picked up their fifth win of the season in a close 8-6 victory today to improve to 5-3 this season as a duo. 
  • Selzer was the first Redhawk this season to play to three sets in a singles match. She lost a close battle 6-4, 2-6, 4-10.
