Smith Collects First Collegiate Career Win in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. - Yesterday, the La Roche University Women's Tennis team captured their first win of the 2019 season against conference opponent Penn St. Behrend, 6-3. The victory is the first of head coach Stephanie Smith's career. When asked about her team's performance, Smith said she "was very proud of her upperclassmen, they battled back and won tough tiebreakers, which isn't easy in high pressure situations."

The Redhawks dominated in singles, winning 4 out of their 6 matchups. At first singles, Junior Rochelle Selzer won her first set 6-4, lost her second set 4-6, and then came back to win handily in the third set 10-5. Freshman Alexandra Jaksec remains undefeated at second singles after defeating Behrend's Jada Donatien in two sets (6-1, 6-2). Junior's Alexandra Mroczkowski and Jazmyn Davis also won their first singles matches of the season.

The duo of Selzer and Jaksec were the only pair of La Roche doubles to win after defeating Behrend 8-4.
