La Roche Opens 2025 With Shutout Over Thiel

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's soccer opened its 2025 season in dominant fashion, blanking the Thiel Tomcats, 4-0.

The opening 45 minutes saw the Redhawks peppering shots on the offensive end, but only managed to get one goal in the back of the net, coming at 37:43, when a Thiel defender would knock the ball into her own net for an own goal and made it a 1-0 game that stood going into the half.

Out of the break, it took just 2:10 for La Roche to add its second goal, when Grace Motuk found the back of the net off an assist by Alexa Harr, who picked up her first collegiate point.

Later, at 71:47, Motuk hit the scoresheet again, this time with a helper, setting up Zaida Gonzalez Rosado to move the score to 3-0.

Teresa Munoz Torrado punctuated the victory at 80:29, scoring her second career goal on an assist by Gabriella Fazio.

The Redhawks were strong on the offensive end, out-shooting the Tomcats 28-6 in the contest, while placing 15 shots on the frame to Thiel's four.

La Roche returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 3 when they travel to face Waynesburg. Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
