PITTSBURGH, PA -- Medaille netted a second half penalty kick to steal a 1-0 game from the Redhawks on Saturday afternoon.
Both the Redhawks and Medaille had chances in the first half. Jessica Nakamura provided two shots and Kerri Phillis and Alondra Gonzalez had quality scoring chances. Jessica Welka made three stops and the Redhawks held an 8-7 shot advantage.
La Roche continued to battle through the second half. Medaille earned a PK with about twenty minutes left and converted for a 1-0 lead.
Phillis nearly found the equalizer, forcing Medaille to make a diving save shortside. Nakamura had a quality chance and Marissa Johnson shot a free kick just above the bar.
Medaille goalkeeper Melyssa Olmsetad stole the game with 17 saves.
La Roche will conclude the season on Saturday against Penn State Altoona.
