Women's Soccer Falls to Pitt-Greensburg 1-0

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche women's soccer team dropped out of postseason contention after falling to Pitt-Greensburg 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Redhawks will look to close their season on a solid note, hosting Medaille on Saturday and Penn State Altoona on Tuesday. La Roche will host senior day on Saturday.

Neither team could gain an edge in the first forty-minutes. La Roche's backline did a great job of neutralizing the Bobcat attack. Pitt-Greensburg snuck three shots through the defense, but goalkeeper Jessica Welka denied all three.

The Redhawks just missed converting a corner kick goal early in the second half. Pitt-Greensburg grabbed the lead ten minutes into the second on a Bri Burgunder goal. Jessica Welka made a terrific initial stop, but Burgunder brought down the rebound and scored.

La Roche was in need of a goal and upped the pressure. They were however unable to find the equalizer and Pitt-Greensburg held on.
