Redhawks Fall in Non-Conference Contest at Alfred State

The La Roche women's soccer team fell 2-1 in a non-conference game on the road against Alfred State. The Redhawks held a tied game at halftime, but could not claim victory.

The Redhawks came out hard and organized in the first half, keeping it tied at 0-0. After intermission, Kerri Phillis assisted Alondra Gonzalez for her fifth goal of the season. La Roche held a late 1-0 lead, but could not keep it up and lost 2-1.

La Roche came out in the first half with intensity and a drive for to win. La Roche earned a corner kick just forty seconds into the game. They also held an 8-5 corner kick advantage against Alfred State. Darcie Dominowski brought energy to the field and stayed strong in the middle by winning fifty-fifty balls. The Redhawks defense remained strong and organized in the back and kept it tied 0-0 at halftime.

Hungry for a goal, Phillis gave a thru ball to Gonzalez and finished it into the back of Alfred State's net. Gonzalez scored the game's first goal in the forty seventh minute. In the seventy-eighth minute, Alfred State scored on a penalty kick tying up the game 1-1. Minutes later, Alfred State took the lead on a penalty kick. The Redhawks could not catch up and Alfred State took a 2-1 win.

The Redhawks will look for a win on Saturday against Hilbert.
