La Roche Upended By Mounties, Secure Fifth Seed in AMCC and Will Play at D'Youville on Saturday

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche women's soccer team will play in their fourth straight AMCC Tournament and enter as the five seed after falling to Mt. Aloysius 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Redhawks will travel to #4 seed D'Youville on Saturday afternoon.

Ryleigh Gapzinski blasted a shot at the net but Mountie keeper Leanne Cardozo-Bastos made a fingertip save and deflected it up and over the crossbar in the fourth minute.

Vanessa Ceravolo had a quality attempt in the twentieth minute. Jessica Nakamura played a long ball over the defense but Cardozo-Bastos made a toe save to keep it scoreless.

Ali Perri stole a pass attempt and fired it just wide in the thirty-second minute and Samantha Chambers had a quality one-timer chance four minutes later.

The Redhawks doubled Mt. Aloysius in shots and held them without a shot on goal in the first half.

La Roche continued to fire shots on net but Mt. Aloysius' Jordan Gebhart broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the sixtieth minute. Perri made a nifty move and had a terrific chance late but Cardozo-Bastos made tough stop.

La Roche outshot Mt. Aloysius 23-10 but Cardoso-Bastos made 14 saves.
