Redhawks Clinch AMCC Tournament Berth Despite Loss at Behrend

ERIE, PA -- The La Roche women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 game to Penn State Behrend in Saturday conference action. The Redhawks clinch an AMCC Tournament berth despite the loss. La Roche can finish anywhere between the third and sixth seed depending on today's and Tuesday's results.

The Redhawks became just the second conference team to hold Behrend scoreless in the first half. Isabelle Orange was terrific in the first pushing away 7 shots. Ryleigh Gapzinski and Marissa Johnson provided La Roche with their best offensive chances but Behrend keeper Ania Gorski made tough saves.

La Roche came out firing in the second half and nearly found the lead. Gapzinski found a crease in the Behrend defense but her shot directed off the post and out of harm's way.

The Lions grabbed the lead in the fifty-second minute. Jordan Oberlander deflected a cross and after an initial save, trickled over the goaline.

Oberlander tallied her second of the game in the sixty-third minute and Behrend held on for the victory.

Orange made eight saves.

La Roche will host Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday at 4:15pm. Seniors will be honored.
