Coach Lozano Wins 200th Career Game as Redhawks Top Pitt-Greensburg 2-1

GREENSBURG, PA -- Coach Miguel Lozano picked up milestone win #200 as the La Roche women's soccer team won their fourth straight game and climb into second place in the AMCC Conference Standings. Coach Lozano is the program's all-time winningest coach and has been a part of the program since it's inception in 1996.

La Roche had plenty of chances early and got on the board first with a goal in the seventeenth minute. Kerri Phillis took a cross from Amber Kubiak and buried her sixth goal of the season and the tenth of her career. The Redhawks continued to play possession soccer but the Bobcats found a goal in the forty-first minute and both teams entered the half deadlocked at 1-1.

Neither team was able to gain the upper hand early in the second half. Both teams had attempted two corner kicks and two shots when Marissa Johnson blasted the game-winner. The Redhawks earned a foul in the seventy-second minute and Johnson sent the free kick through a line of defenders and into the back of the net.

The Bobcats had quality chances late, including a corner kick on the last play of the game. The Redhawks came up big and earned the important AMCC Conference victory.

Goalkeeper Isabelle Orange allowed just one goal and continues to lead the AMCC in both Goals Against Average (0.91) and save percentage (.872).

The Redhawks will host Pitt-Bradford on Saturday in a big AMCC Conference matchup. Pitt-Bradford is 3-2 in the conference and coming off a 3-0 win against Medaille.
