Redhawks Shutout Hilbert for Third Straight Win

Redhawks Shutout Hilbert for Third Straight Win

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche women's soccer team improved to 5-6-1 and 3-2 in the AMCC after beating Hilbert 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks needed just two and a half minutes to tally the game winning goal. Amber Kubiak found Vanessa Ceravolo just outside the box and Ceravolo dribbled through the Hilbert defense and blasted it into the left side of the net.

La Roche extended their lead to two in the tenth minute. Kerri Phillis deked out two defenders before burying a shot into the left corner of the net.

Carly Wilson put the Redhawks up three with her second goal of the season. Kayla Zolsgus fired a shot on net and Wilson came up with the rebound before blasting it home.

The Redhawks outshot Hilbert 10-1 and entered the half ahead 3-0.

La Roche continued to rack up shots in the second half. Wilson had a great chance to make it a four goal game in the sixtieth minute but her shot sailed over the bar.

Ali Perri made a nifty inside-out move and fired it on net in the sixty-third minute and Phillis had two quality strikes that were saved.

La Roche outshot Hilbert 22-6. Phillis, Ceravolo and Wilson scored goals and Kubiak, Zolgus and Ceravolo provided assists.
