Altoona Scores Early and Holds On for 1-0 Win

ALTOONA, PA -- Penn State Altoona scored an early goal and hung on to beat the Redhawks 1-0 on Tuesday evening. La Roche is now 2-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the AMCC.

La Roche dominated the shot chart early but it was Penn State Altoona who got on the board first. The Redhawks held possession of the ball but a turnover allowed for an Altoona 2 on 1 counter attack. The Lion's Shosana Mahoney then found Gabby Stauffer for a 1-0 lead in the fifteenth minute.

The Redhawks responded by firing off five more shots before halftime but entered the locker room trailing by one. Coach Lozano rallied his team and they came out of the half motivated. They attempted the first four shots of the second half but Altoona goalkeeper Sydney Emershaw denied all four. La Roche continued to dominate the statsheet but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Redhawks outshot Penn State Altoona 19-12 and attempted 7 corner kicks to the Lions' two. Vanessa Ceravolo had a game-high 6 shots and Isabelle Orange made 6 saves.

La Roche will head back up to Buffalo, NY on Saturday. They take on Medaille at 8pm.
