La Roche Falls at Muskingum Despite Shot Advantage

New Concord, OH -- The La Roche women's soccer team fell to 0-2 after dropping a non-conference road game on Wednesday evening. Muskingum opened up a 3-0 lead and held on for the 3-1 victory.

The Redhawks outshot Muskingum 13-5 in the first half despite the 2-0 deficit at halftime. The Muskies got on the board with a Miranda Bishop goal in the twenty-third minute. Mary Double doubled their lead with an unassisted tally in thirty-first.

Muskingum stretched their lead to three just seven minutes  into the second half but La Roche answered less than a minute later. Kerri Phillis snuck through the Muskie defense and provided her first goal of the season.

La Roche continued to bring pressure throughout the second half but could not find the equalizer.

The Redhawks controlled play and held a 21-14 shot advantage. Vanessa Ceravolo tallied her first point of the year providing a helper on Phillis' goal.

La Roche will host St. Vincent in their home opener on Friday.
