BUFFALO, NY – Nicole Ferraco scored a huge goal in the 85th minute to break a scoreless tie and give the visiting Lady Redhawks (7-7-3, 3-3-2) a 1-0 victory over Hilbert College (2-12-1, 0-7-1). The win propels La Roche into sixth place in the AMCC Conference and clinches their 16th straight postseason appearance.
Bethanie Moreschi nearly gave the Lady Redhawks a lead late in the first half. Moreschi drilled a ball at an open net but a Hilbert defender got a head on it to send it wide. Shelby Novak had two good chances before Ferraco's heroics netted La Roche the win.
Ferraco scored her second goal of the season and Jessica Greco added her third assist. Moreschi led La Roche with 4 shots and Ferraco, Novak, and Melissa Cosentino finished with 2 shots each. Goalkeeper Maria DiPerna registered her second shutout of the season.
The Lady Redhawks will host Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday at 1:00PM before traveling to a First Round AMCC Tournament game on Saturday.
